FEATURES AND TRENDS OF DIGITAL ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBALIZATION

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the current state and prospects of the digital economy development in the context of globalization. Methodology of research. To achieve the objective, the study employed the following research methods: analysis and synthesis, deduction and induction, expert assessment method, statistical methods, as well as graphical and tabular methods. Findings. It has been established that the digital economy is global in nature and can be regarded as a complex system consisting of multiple interrelated elements. The main advantages and disadvantages associated with the development of the digital economy have been identified. The decisive role of the Internet in ensuring and supporting the functioning and development of the digital economy is substantiated. Practical value. The practical significance of the obtained findings lies in determining a set of features that characterize the functioning of the digital economy in the context of globalization. Theoretical approaches to defining the scientific concept of the digital economy are analyzed. The key operators of the digital economy are identified, namely: developers of digital platforms, providers of digital content, and developers of digital infrastructure. The global digital economy is examined as a complex system, the core elements of which are: e-commerce, digital payments, digital marketing, social networks, artificial intelligence, remote work, digital entertainment and telemedicine. The main advantages and disadvantages of the digital economy are identified. Among the principal advantages are increased productivity, expanded customer reach, access to big data, convenience in trading goods and services, optimization of business processes, and personalization. The main disadvantages include privacy and security concerns, job displacement, market monopolization, widening the digital divide, and environmental impacts. It is established that the World Wide Web is a paradigm for the functioning of the global digital economy, while the number of Internet users worldwide demonstrates a steady upward trend. The key trends in the development of the digital economy are identified, including artificial intelligence, digital transformation of traditional economic sectors, digital connectivity, transformation of healthcare systems, and achievements in the field of cybersecurity. The impact of digitalization on global economic development is summarized.
